1. Who provides my Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia insurance cover?

Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia is underwritten by Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance INC.

Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Insurance Inc. provides coverages only for passengers who purchased one way or round ticket departing from Japan. For those who purchased one way ticket departing from other country, you will be covered by a local insurance company there (subject to availability).

2. What is my insurance coverage under the Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia program?

Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia (One Way Trip) includes cover for Injury death and residual disability, Medical Expenses for sickness and accident, Flight Delay / Missed Flight Connection, Baggage Damage & Personal Effects. For a full list of the benefits, click here.

Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia (Round Trip) includes cover for Injury death and residual disability, Medical Expenses for sickness and accident, Flight Delay / Missed Flight Connection, Rescue Expenses, Baggage Damage & Personal Effects, Baggage Delay as well as Personal Liability. 3. Does Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia enforce an age limit?

Guests over 9 days old are able to qualify for Tune Protect Travel-AirAsia.

4. Do I need a medical examination to apply for any of the Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia policies?
+

No, medical examination is not required. You have to answer to several questions before purchasing insurance and only passengers whose answers are all 'NO' are eligible to purchase insurance.

5. Can I extend or shorten the insurance period?

No, you can't.

6. Can I cancel my Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia ?
+

You can cancel your contract and is entitled to receive refund only in case such request is made to AirAsiaX, Thai AirAsia X, or AirAsia Japan after you purchase insurance and also before your departure. Please access to below URL and select 'Claims' as Case Category, 'Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia' as Type, and state that you want to cancel the insurance contract on feedback, then press submit. AirAsia will contact you later.

It takes 30 days to refund to your credit card. Any inquiry on refund process, please also access to the URL above.

Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Customer Center will not be able to respond to any inquiry on refund process.

7. Can I get a refund of premium if I shorten the itinerary?

No, you can't.

8. Do I have to carry a copy of my Certificate of Insurance with me when traveling?
+

Yes, you are required to carry a copy of the Certificate of Insurance.

9. What do I do if I did not receive or lost my Certificate of Insurance?
+

Your Insure was successfully processed if it is reflected on the Confirmation Page and in your AisAsia Itinerary, To get a copy, simply e-mailed (Shoot) us your Certificate number(if available), Full name, Flight Booking number, Travel Dates, Date of Purchase and E-mail Address.

10. What do I do if I purchased Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia with misspelled name?

As far as Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia is concerned, it is valid even if the name has been misspelled. (We do not re-issue Certificate of Insurance with correct name.)

11. Do I need to amend my insurance period when my itinerary changed due to delay of aircraft, accident, and illness?
+

You don't need to amend your contract because the Company shall agree to extend the termination date of insurance liability within the range of delay ordinarily possible because of such causes up to seventy-two (72) hours for Overseas plan and up to forty-eight(48) hours for domestic plans if such delay happens due to the following causes.

1 ) Delay, Cancellation or suspension of service of the transportation facilities which the insured boarded or was scheduled to board as a passenger and which are operated according the schedules

2 ) A failure to board an aircraft or watercraft due to the insufficient handling of booking on the part of transportation facilities

3 ) The insured received medical treatment

4 ) Theft or loss of the insured's passport in cases only where the insured received the re-issued passport or travel document

5 ) Hospitalization of the insured's accompanying family members or persons

1. How do I purchase Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia?
+

You can only purchase Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia while you are booking your flights on airasia.com.

2. Can I purchase Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia after I make my flight booking?
+

Yes, you can. Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia is currently applicable on airasia.com (during booking process) and after booking via "Manage My Booking". You can purchase the insurance at least 48 hours before your departure time.

3. Can I purchase Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia if I am not a resident of Japan?
+

No you can't. Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia is currently applicable for people who resides in Japan and who understands Japanese language

4. Can I purchase Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia if I'm traveling for more than 60 days?
+

Yes, you can purchase Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia, but the maximum insurance period is 60 days. There is no coverage during 61st day onwards.

5. Can I purchase Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia One Way coverage if I purchased a return flight ticket?
+

No, your Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia plan is based on your AirAsia Travel Itinerary, if you've purchased a return ticket, Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia will cover you for that particular return trip.

1. When does my Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia coverage begin?
+

With regard to Return Plan, Period of insurance starts from 00:00 midnight of inception date to 24:00 midnight of the last date of the period of insurance(Both at Japanese Standard Time)(Maximum 30 days for domestic plans and Maximum 60 days for overseas plan) You are insured from the time you left your home to the time you comes back to your home.

With regard to One way Plan, Period of insurance starts from 00:00 midnight of inception date. You are insured from the time you left your home to 24:00 midnight of the next day (Japanese Standard Time)

2. Does Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia Travel cover sports and other activities?

As long as you are not participating in the Dangerous sports (*), you are covered without limitation or restriction. (*) Dangerous Sports: Mountain climbing with gears such as ice ax, climbing irons, climbing rope and the like, luge, bobsleighing, skeleton sport, piloting an aircraft, skydiving, flying a hang-glider, flying an ultra-light power plane, flying a gyroplane and other similar dangerous sports.

3. Are gifts and articles purchased during the Journey covered?

Yes they are covered while being under your custody under the Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia policies, subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions in the Policy Document.

4. Would a suitcase shipped home early to save costs on excess baggage be covered under the Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia Travel Insurance?
+

No, any unaccompanied luggage is not covered under the Tune Protect Travel – AirAsia.

5. Can I keep having medical treatment in Japan following having the same for injury or illness in overseas?
+

Yes, you can. Your insurance pays expenses incurred within 180 days including the date of accident (in case of injury) and within 180 days including the date of first treatment received (in case of illness). Subject always to the Insured Amount for Medical Expenses for Sickness and Accident in any one accident or illness.

6. What is the Cashless Repair Baggage Service?

It is an on demand arrangement where the insurer's designated repair shop receive your suitcase, camera, digital camera or portable PC damaged during your travel at your home, repair and return the items back to you.

1. Please contact Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Overseas Helpline after you return to your home.

2. Repair Service Center (the Insurer's designated repair shop) will send you the following documentations:-

(1) Guidance to the Cashless Repair Service

(2) A Request Form for Repair

(3) An Invoice for Free Home Delivery Service

(4) Protection Materials, except for Suitcase

3. Home Delivery Servicer will come to pick up the damaged goods and the Request Form.

4. After completion of repair, the goods will be sent to the address you requested.
