1. What is the name of my travel insurance and who is the insurer?

It is called Travel Protection for AirAsia and is underwritten by FWD Singapore Pte Ltd.

2. What is my insurance coverage?
+

Coverage varies depending on whether you are making a one-way or return trip flight booking. Please refer to the Travel Protection for AirAsia policy wording for the full description of the terms, conditions and exclusions of the cover.

3. What is the age limit to the travel insurance coverage?
+

You must be at least 9 days old and above to be insured under Travel Protection for AirAsia.

4. Do I need to undergo a medical health check to be covered under this insurance?
+

No, a medical examination is not required. However please note that claims arising from pre-existing medical conditions are not covered under this insurance program.

5. Can I still buy travel insurance if I have a pre-existing medical condition?
+

Yes, however any pre-existing medical condition is excluded under the policy.

Pre-existing medical condition refers to:

Any condition which is in existence within one hundred and eighty-two (182) days prior to the commencement of your trip, regardless of whether:

  1. You have received medical treatment, diagnosis, consultation or prescribed drugs; or
  2. Symptoms or manifestations have existed; or
  3. Treatment was actually sought or received; or
  4. A reasonable person in the circumstances would be expected to be aware of the condition.
This definition of pre-existing medical condition shall also apply to your immediate family member or travelling companion or any person upon whose good health your trip depends.
6. Can I pay additional premium to cover pre-existing medical conditions?

No, Travel Protection for AirAsia is a package plan with no option to buy additional coverage.
7. Can I amend or cancel my insurance cover?
+

The insurance policy cannot be changed or cancelled once your Certificate of Insurance is issued even if you are postponing or extending your trip. The premium is non-refundable under any circumstances.

8. Do I have to bring the Certificate of Insurance with me when I am travelling as proof of purchase?

No, your purchase confirmation is printed at your AirAsia itinerary.

9. Can I make a nomination of beneficiaries?
+

No, any death claim proceed will be made to the estate of the insured person whilst other benefits will be paid directly to the insured person.

10. If AirAsia reschedule my return flight to a later date, what will happen to my travel insurance?

Your travel insurance will be automatically extended to cover you up to 72 hours.

11. If I purchase the travel insurance for more than one person for the same trip, how do I derive the premium per person?

You can calculate the premium per person by dividing the total premium paid by the number of insured persons.

Yes, Travel Protection for AirAsia is made available in Manage My Booking or during Web Check In.

3. Why is Travel Protection for AirAsia not available during my flight purchase, Web Check In or Manage My Booking?

It could be that you have already purchased Travel Protection for AirAsia. Please check your AirAsia Travel Itinerary to confirm so.

4. Can I purchase Travel Protection for AirAsia if I am not a resident of Singapore?

Yes, as long as you are an AirAsia Guest departing from Singapore.

5. If I am travelling with my friend, do we both need to buy separate travel insurance policies?

Yes, you both need to buy separate policies.

6. How do I purchase Travel Protection for AirAsia for my accompanying infant?
+

If you purchase Travel Protection for AirAsia, your accompanying infant aged 9 days to 2 years is automatically covered for only Personal Accident. This infant cover is free.

7. Can I purchase Travel Protection for AirAsia if I am traveling for more than 90 days?

Travel Protection for AirAsia is only valid up to 90 days from the Departure Date.

8. Can I purchase Travel Protection for AirAsia One Way coverage if I purchased a return flight ticket?

No, your Travel Protection for AirAsia plan is based on your AirAsia Travel Itinerary, if you've purchased a return ticket, Travel Protection for AirAsia cover you for that particular return trip

1. Am I still covered by Travel Protection for AirAsia if I catch a connecting flight to a different destination?

Under Travel Protection for AirAsia, air travel coverage is only limited to AirAsia flights.

2. If a natural disaster hit the country I'm just about to visit, if I had cover under an Travel Protection for AirAsia Travel Insurance policy, could I cancel my Journey and make a claim?

No, Travel Protection for AirAsia does not cover any trip cancellation due to natural disaster. Please refer to the full terms and conditions for more details.

3. When does my Travel Protection for AirAsia coverage begin?
+

The Return-Trip Plan commences when you check-in for your AirAsia Departure Flight and terminates when you have reached the flight terminal on your AirAsia Return Flight.

The One-Way Plan commences when you check-in for your AirAsia Departure Flight and terminates when you have arrived at the flight terminal of your AirAsia destination.

4. Does Travel Protection for AirAsia cover Sports and other similar activities?

No, Travel Protection for AirAsia does not cover sports and other similar activities. Please refer to the full terms and conditions for more details.

5. Can I cancel my flight for any reason and get a refund through my Trip Cancellation Benefit?
+

The Trip Cancellation Benefit is only applicable for the reasons stated in the policy's terms and conditions. The reasons include unforeseen emergencies such as illness, injury or death involving you, your travel companion and/or an immediate family member. Pre-existing Conditions are not covered.

6. Does my Baggage & Personal Effects Benefit cover theft?

Yes, Travel Protection for AirAsia covers theft and damage due to attempted theft as long as it occurs during your scheduled flight with AirAsia.

7. Is a video camera or any other item on loan or hire for the Journey covered?
+

Yes, loaned items are covered under the Travel Protection for AirAsia policies, subject to the applicable terms, conditions and exclusions. For example, video camera equipment must accompany you as personal cabin baggage, and must not be left unattended in a public place. We regard these items as 'personal effects'. Any claim arising must first be made under the owner's insurance, if applicable.

8. Are gifts and articles purchased during the Journey covered?

Yes they are covered under the Travel Protection for AirAsia policies, subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions in the Policy Document.

9. Would a suitcase shipped home early to save costs on excess baggage be covered under the Travel Protection for AirAsia Travel Insurance?
+

No, any unaccompanied luggage is not covered unless transported by the carrier with whom you are travelling and arranged in conjunction with your travel ticket.

10. Can sum insured for baggage and personal effect cover under Travel Protection for AirAsia be increased?
+

No, there is no option under the policies to increase the cover provided for baggage, or any of the other benefits.

1. What shall I do if I encounter an accident abroad?
+

Please call Travel Protection for AirAsia's 24-hour Emergency Medical Service number: +65 31656256. It is important that you call this number for more details before you take any action. As for outpatient treatment, please retain all original receipts and claim them upon your return to Singapore.

2. Can I continue with my medical treatment for injuries sustained overseas when I return home?

Yes, you can continue your treatment as long as the initial treatment is received during the trip and all expenses are incurred within 30 days after the expiry of your Travel Protection for AirAsia.

Claims

1. How can I claim my outpatient accidental medical expenses under the Travel Protection for AirAsia program?
+

You will be reimbursed for your medical expenses incurred as a result of a covered event as stated in the policy's terms and conditions.

2. If the Customs Department were to confiscate anything from me, could I make a claim under the Travel Protection for AirAsia Travel Insurance?
+

No, cover for claims arising from confiscation by authorities is excluded.

3. How do I file a claim?
+

You can submit your claims online. Please click here to make your submission.

4. How long does it take before my claims are processed?
+

Your claims will be processed within 14 working days after you have submitted all the required documents.

5. What is the time limit for me to file a claim?
+

All claims must be submitted to FWD Singapore Pte Ltd within 30 days after the occurrence of the event together with the supporting documents.

6. What shall I do if I disagree with a claim decision made?
+

Travel Protection for AirAsia will advise you in writing of your rights to appeal the claim decision and the procedures for filing an appeal with FWD Singapore Pte Ltd.

7. I am not a resident of Singapore. How do I get my claim reimbursement?
+

You may opt to receive your reimbursement via bank draft or telegraphic transfer. Kindly be advised that any cost, charges and/or fees in relation to overseas bank remittance and/or issuance of bank draft in respect of the settlement of your claim shall be borne solely by you.

COVID-19
+
1. Am I covered with COVID-19 during my trip?
+

Yes, you will be covered for COVID-19 under the Cancellation of Trip, Medical Expenses, Hospital Allowance, Overseas Hospital Visit or Compassionate Visit, Emergency Medical Evacuation and Repatriation, Repatriation of mortal remains benefits if you choose to purchase Plus Plan that is with COVID-19 Coverage.

For reimbursement of medical expenses due to COVID-19, reimbursement shall be according to the amount shown in the Schedule of Benefits up to a maximum of SGD 80,000 (depending on selected plan) if you contract COVID-19 and are hospitalized during your trip.

Important Note: Please ensure that the travel insurance plan that you purchased meets the Country of Arrival’s minimum medical expenses coverage requirement.
