Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia is especially designed by AirAsia through PT Asuransi Dayin Mitra Tbk with your needs in mind.

2. What is my insurance coverage under the Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia program?

Your coverage shall include the following if you are an AirAsia or AirAsia Guest traveling under the Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia:

Personal accident, trip cancellation, loss or damage of baggage and personal effects, flight/ common conveyance delay, trip interuption, accidental medical reimbursement and evacuation/ repatriation expenses.*

3. Do I need a medical examination to apply for any of the Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia policies?

No. A medical examination is not required. However, please note that claims arising from pre-existing medical conditions are excluded under Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia. Please see FAQ 1.4 for more information.

4. Can I still buy Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia if I have a Pre-existing Condition?

Yes, however, Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia has exclusions on Pre-existing Conditions as stated in the policy’s Full Terms and Conditions.

"Pre-existing Condition" refers to injury, sickness, disease, illness or other medical conditions that required medical treatments before you purchase Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia.

5. Can I pay extra to cover pre-existing medical conditions?

No, there is no option to pay extra to obtain cover for pre-existing medical conditions under the Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia policies.

6. Can I amend my Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia?

The Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia cannot be changed once your Certificate of Insurance is issued even if you are postponing or extending your trip.

7. Can I cancel my Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia?

You may not cancel your Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia.

8. Is Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia premium refundable?

Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia premium is non-refundable.

9. Do I have to carry a copy of my Certificate of Insurance with me when traveling?

No, you don't need to carry a copy of your Certificate of Insurance.

10. Am I required to carry any additional documents to proof my purchase when I am traveling?

No, your purchase confirmation is printed at the bottom of your AirAsia Itinerary.

11. Where should I indicate my nominee for receiving benefits?

You don’t need to indicate a nominee for your Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia policy! Flight or Personal Accident benefits paid due to a fatal accident will be made to the estate of the Insured while other benefits are paid directly to the Insured.

12. What happens to my Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia if AirAsia reschedules my Return Flight to a later date?

Your Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia is automatically extended to cover you up to a maximum of 3 days if your Return Flight is rescheduled by AirAsia to a later date.

13. How can I differentiate the Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia plan that I have purchased?

2. Can I purchase Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia after I make my flight booking?

Yes, Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia is made available in Manage My Booking, during Web Check In, Mobile or Indonesia AirAsia Sales Counters.

3. Why is Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia not available during my flight purchase, Web Check In or Manage My Booking?

Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia is only available for flights departing from Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Macau, Hong Kong, Australia, China, Cambodia and Philippines, Laos, Vietnam & New Zealand

4. Can I purchase Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia if I am not a resident of Indonesia?

You can purchase Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia as long as you are an AirAsia Guest flying out of Indonesia, even if you are not an Indonesian and/or do not live in Indonesia.

5. If I am travelling with my friend, do we both need to buy separate travel insurance policies?

Yes, you both need to buy separate policies.

6. How do I purchase Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia for my accompanying infant?

If you purchase Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia, your accompanying infant aged from 9 days to 2 years is covered against bodily injury caused by an accident as well. (applies for Worldwide One Way and Return Trip)

7. Can I purchase Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia if I am traveling for more than 90 days?

Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia is only valid up to 90 days from the Departure Date.

8. Can I purchase Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia oneway coverage if I purchased a return flight ticket?

No, your Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia plan is based on your AirAsia Travel Itinerary, if you've purchased a return ticket,Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia (Return-Trip) will cover you for that particular return trip.

1. What is my insurance coverage under the additional benefit, On Time Guarantee?

The coverage shall pay the insured up to the value of IDR 800,000 for delay greater than 2 (two) hours of scheduled departure time caused solely by Carrier Operator/ AirAsia Group.

• Coverage is not extended for accompanying infant if the Insured Person has purchased the protection herein provided.

2. Am I still covered by Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia if I catch a connecting flight to a different destination?

Under Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia, air travel coverage is only limited to AirAsia flights. For the Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia, the coverage for the period commencing upon arrival until departure only applies within the original country of destination on an AirAsia flight.

Effectively March 8, 2012 AirAsia will cover Fly Thru (including Missed Flight Connection)*

No, Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia does not cover any flight cancellation due to natural disaster. Please refer to the full terms and conditions for more details.

4. What kind of benefits do I get with Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia?

Please visit the section in our Product Descriptions and Policy Wordings for more detailed information about the benefits available under the Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia program. The following is a summary of the benefits:

 

  1. Personal Accident
    Provides you and your loved ones monetary compensation if you are involved in an accident with fatal or serious injuries.
  2. Baggage and Personal Effects
    Reimburses you up to IDR 7,000,000 if your luggage is lost or damaged.
  3. Loss of Deposit or Cancellation
    If you are required to cancel your trip due to sickness, injury or death of an immediate family member.
  4. Accidental Medical Reimbursement
    Available only under Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia Return Trip Plan, you will be reimbursed on your medical bills up to IDR 50,000,000 if you are involved in an accident during your trip and require medical attention.
  5. Evacuation and Repatriation Expenses
    Available only under the Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia Return Trip Plan if you are involved in an accident while traveling and are required to be brought home to your loved ones.
  6. Flight Delay
    Compensates you for the time lost up to IDR 4,000,000 if your flight is delayed

    Provides you a 24-hour Emergency Assistance Line.
  8. Trip Curtailment
    Available only under Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia Return Trip Plan, you will be reimbursed if you curtail your trip to return directly to Indonesia due to:
    • Hospitalization as a result of a serious accidental bodily injury
    • Emergency Medical Evacuation
    • Death of Insured Person’s immediate Family Member
    • Hospitalisation of Insured Person’s immediate Family Member which requires the presence of the Insured Person

5. When does my Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia coverage begin?

Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia Return Trip Plan starts only upon arrival in any airport premises in Indonesia to commence travel to the intended destination and terminate when you get outside any airport premises in Indonesia.

Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia One-Way Plans starts only upon arrival in any airport premises in Indonesia and terminate when you get outside in any airport premises at the intended destination of your AirAsia flight.

6. Does Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia cover Sports and other similar activities?

No, Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia does not cover sports and other similar activities. Please refer to the full terms and conditions for more details.

7. Can I cancel my flight for any reason and get a refund through my Trip Cancellation Benefit?

The Trip Cancellation Benefit is only applicable for the reasons stated in the policy's terms and conditions.

The reasons include unforeseen emergencies such as illness, injury or death involving you, your travel companion and/or an immediate family member. Pre-existing Conditions are not covered.

8. Does my Baggage & Personal Effects Benefit cover theft?

Yes, Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia covers theft and damage due to attempted theft as long as it occurs during your scheduled flight with AirAsia and claim reported to AirAsia before leaving the destination airport.

9. Is a video camera or any other item on loan or hire for the Journey covered?

Yes, loaned items are covered under the Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia policies, subject to the applicable terms, conditions and exclusions. For example, video camera equipment must accompany you as personal cabin baggage, and must not be left unattended in a public place. We regard these items as 'personal effects'. Any claim arising must first be made under the owner's insurance, if applicable.*

10. Are gifts and articles purchased during the Journey covered?

Yes they are covered under the Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia policies, subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions in the Policy Document.

11. Would a suitcase shipped home early to save costs on excess baggage be covered under the Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia?
+

No, any unaccompanied luggage is not covered unless transported by the carrier with whom you are travelling and arranged in conjunction with your travel ticket.*

12. Can sum insured for baggage and personal effect cover under Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia be increased?
+

No, there is no option under the policies to increase the cover provided for baggage, or any of the other benefits.

13. Whether covers hotel costs incurred if there are flight delays?
+

Yes, starting on March 8, 2012 will add benefit for 1 night hotel accommodation for passengers who purchases in the event of flight delay more than 6 hours from the scheduled time, customer will get compensated for max. IDR 750.000 for 1 night hotel accommodation. Or customer can choose a replacement or cash money amounting IDR 400.000 for every 6 hours delay up to IDR 4.000.000

14. Whether to require that any transit flight, coverage of still apply?
+

Yes, starting on March 8, 2012 enhance the coverage up to the country of final destination, in the sense that if there is a transit on its way, remains valid. In addition, if there are flight delays in transit, will compensate for IDR 800.000 max. IDR 1.600.000 for delay of more than 6 hours. This coverage only applies to Worldwide Fly Thru Plan.

15. What is coverage of Baggage Delay?

Coverage is provided when baggage is delayed, misdirected or temporarily misplace by the AirAsia from the time your arrival at the scheduled destination abroad till the time you received your baggage. Provided always that it cannot be claimed under both section "Luggage & Personal Effect" and "Baggage Delay" for the same event. The passengers will be compensated IDR 300.000/day, maximum IDR 900,000

16. Can I buy benefits for Personal Accident, Baggage Delay and Baggage & Personal Effect only?

Yes, You can buy benefits for Personal Accident, Baggage Delay and Baggage & Personal Effect when you do your baggage Check In at AirAsia Counter in the airport with coverage as below :

  • Personal Accident (during the flight) : IDR 500.000.000

  • Loss/Damage of Baggage and Personal Effect : up to IDR 7.000.000, excess IDR 150.000 per claim (limit applied to any item IDR 1.000.000)

  • Baggage Delay : IDR 300.000/day, max. IDR 900.000 (exclude destination at home base)

1. What shall I do if I encounter an accident abroad?

Please call Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia's 24-hour Emergency Medical Service number: +62 2130406202. To do call collect, you are required to contact the local Telecommunication Operator to connect you to +62 2130406202.

It is important that you call this number for more details before you take any action. As for outpatient treatment, please retain all original receipts and claim them upon your return to Indonesia.

2. Can I continue with my medical treatment for injuries sustained overseas when I return home?

Yes, you can continue your treatment as long as the initial treatment is received during the trip and all expenses are incurred within 30 days after the expiry of your Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia.

1. How can I claim my outpatient accidental medical expenses under the Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia program?
+

You will be reimbursed for your medical expenses incurred as a result of a covered event as stated in the policy's terms and conditions.

2. If I need treatment for an illness during my trip, can I claim for medical, hospital or any other related expenses?
+

Yes, your Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia covers you for accident-related medical expenses and reimbursement for medical expenses incurred due to non pre-existing sickness (with a minimum 12 hours of hospitalization).

3. If the Customs Department were to confiscate anything from me, could I make a claim under the Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia?

No, cover for claims arising from confiscation by authorities is excluded.

4. How do I file a claim?
+

Your Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia will be underwritten by PT Asuransi Dayin Mitra Tbk.
Please download the Claim Form here and upon completion, please fax and mail the completed form and claim supporting documents to the fax number and address stated in the Claim Form.

5. How long does it take before my claims are processed?
+

Your claims will be processed within 7 working days after you have submitted all the required documents.

6. What is the time limit for me to file a claim?
+

All claims must be submitted to PT Asuransi Dayin Mitra Tbk within 30 days after the occurrence of the event together with the supporting documents.

7. What shall I do if I disagree with a claim decision made?
+

Tune Protect Travel - AirAsia will advise you in writing of your rights to appeal the claim decision and the procedures for filing an appeal with PT Asuransi Dayin Mitra Tbk.

8. I am not a resident of Indonesia. How do I get my claim reimbursement?
+

You may opt to receive your reimbursement via bank draft or telegraphic transfer. Kindly be advised that any cost, charges and/or fees in relation to overseas bank remittance and/or issuance of bank draft in respect of the settlement of your claim shall be borne solely by you.

COVID-19
+
1. Am I covered with COVID-19 during my trip?
+

Yes, you are covered for COVID-19 for certain benefits on all routes. The benefits are bereavement allowance, hospital allowance, trip cancellation and compassionate visit.

For medical expenses reimbursement due to COVID-19, we will reimburse according to the amount shown in the Schedule of Benefits up to MYR 100,000 if you contract COVID-19 and are hospitalized in the Country of Arrival. The eligibility for medical expenses reimbursement due to COVID-19 are:

  • Travelers must be between 2 to 75 years old.
  • Applicable for return flights only. One-way flights are not covered.
  • Flights departing from Malaysia to these 7 countries: Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Brunei, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar.

Important Note: Please ensure that the travel insurance plan that purchase meets the Country of Arrival’s minimum medical expenses coverage requirement.

2. Do I need to get COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction Test (“PCR Test”) before departure?

Yes, you are required to take a COVID-19 PCR Test within 72 hours before departing from Indonesia. If you do not take the PCR test, we will not pay for the medical cost if you are infected with COVID-19 during your trip.

3. Am I covered for quarantine cost if I am infected with COVID-19 during my trip?
+

No quarantine benefit offered. The guaranteed cost is the cost of treatment that uses or requires medical action, such as the use of drugs (not vitamins), use of a ventilator, etc.

4. Are there any travel requirements I need to be aware of?
+

Yes, some countries have specific requirements. We have compiled a list of the summarized regulations for Thailand and Singapore below.

As the travel requirements worldwide continue to change from time to time, there are times when the information stated below might not be up-to-date and may be obsolete at the time you are viewing it.

Therefore, for the latest information on your destination, we strongly encourage you to check the travel restrictions directly with the respective government of your destination country / state prior to purchasing the travel protection from us.

5. Which countries currently have travel requirements?

Thailand

Due to COVID-19, Thailand has imposed several travel restrictions and requirements. All Thai and foreign nationals planning to enter the country must provide the following documentation:

  1. Certificate of Entry (COE) certifying that the person is allowed to enter the Kingdom, issued by the Royal Thai Embassy or Consulate.
  2. A Fit to Fly health certificate attesting that the traveler is fit to travel, issued within 72 hours before departure from the first embarkation point. The certificate must be in English.
  3. Medical certificate attesting that the traveler is free from COVID-19, issued within 72 hours from the date of arrival.
  4. An insurance policy that covers healthcare & treatment expenses for COVID-19, with a minimum coverage amount of USD $100,000.

Singapore

  1. Starting 31st January 2021, Singapore requires all visitors to have a travel insurance policy that provides medical coverage for COVID-19 of at least SGD 30,000.The policy can be purchased from any Singapore-based or overseas insurer.
  2. Travellers who are not Singaporean Citizens or Permanent Residents and have recent travel history to high-risk countries/regions are required to take a COVID-19 Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) test within 72 hours prior to departure.
  3. Starting 24th January 2021, all travellers including Singaporean Citizens and Permanent Residents must take a COVID-19 PCR test upon arrival in Singapore. They are then required to serve 14 days quarantine upon arrival in Singapore.
  4. Starting 18th January 2021, all returning Singaporean Citizens and Permanent Residents from the United Kingdom and South Africa will be subject to an additional 7-day self-isolation.
