What is nomination?

Nomination is the process of naming a person in your policy certificate. It is a right given to the policy owner to choose someone to receive or manage the money disbursed by the insurance company in the event of your demise.

Policy owner is encouraged to put their spouse (wife/husband), children or parents as their nominees.

Why do you have to nominate?

  • Ensure that your loved ones are financially protected should anything happen to you.
  • Ensure that policy moneys are distributed faster without delay.

What happens when there is no nomination?

If you do not make a nomination, your insurance company is not obligated to release the policy money until your loved ones obtain a Grand of Probate or Letter of Administration or Distribution Order, which is time-consuming.

What is the process nomination for Muslim?

All nominee(s) named by a Muslim policy owner is merely an executor and the policy benefits must be distributed according to Islamic laws.

Do I need to appoint a trustee?

If any of your nominees are below 18 years old, you may consider appointing a trustee. If your nominees are above 18 years old, you may not need to do so. The trustee’s duties would be to receive the policy moneys and distribute them to the nominees accordingly.

How and who do I make a nominee?

You are encouraged to nominate your spouse, child or parents as nominees and state the proportion to which each nominee will be entitled. If you do not specify the portions to be paid to each person, the policy moneys will be distributed to the nominees in equal share.

STEP 1

Download the necessary document related to your nomination.

STEP 2

Complete all fields in the form and sign the form. Ensure that the form is duly signed and witnessed by someone who is 18 years old and above, of sound mind and not a named nominee, failing which the nomination may be deemed invalid

Can I change the nomination made earlier?

You can make changes to a nomination by writing to us. The latest nomination will supersede all previous nominations. However, in the case of a trust policy, a nomination cannot be revoked without the written consent of the trustee.
